Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus, an independent Catholic girls’ high school in Pasadena, California, seeks a mission-driven, dynamic, and student-centered coach to serve as Head Speech and Debate Coach for the 2026-27 school year.

Mayfield is excited to launch its inaugural Speech & Debate program and seeks an experienced Speech & Debate Coach to build our Speech & Debate Program and develop students’ oratory and debate skills to their fullest potential. The ideal candidate will have a competitive Speech & Debate coaching background coupled with strong communication skills to motivate, support, and advance students at all levels of competition.

• Design and implement a comprehensive Speech & Debate program that emphasizes the theories and skills underlying speech and debate and advances skills development towards competitive
• Lead program sessions and practices once or twice weekly for about 2-4 hours weekly, developing students’ speech and debate knowledge and
• Prepare students for local and regional tournaments by leading argument preparation and research, and teaching students the skills necessary for competitive success and confidence.
• Maintain school membership with main Speech & Debate national and state
• Organize and administer teams participation in local and regional tournaments, including making travel arrangements, chaperoning the students, hiring judges, and arranging for payment of judges and entry
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture by providing mentorship and support in alignment with school values and mission

• Minimum of 2 years of successful experience as a high school Speech & Debate coach or competitor with equivalent experience, preferably in an all-girls environment.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license

• $30 - $40 per hour, DOE
