Job Overview

Teachers at EF Academy Pasadena are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and supporting the academic development of students in a diverse, international learning community. Teachers exemplify effective approaches to learning and teaching in their classrooms while fostering an engaging, inclusive, and academically rigorous environment. Faculty collaborate with colleagues across departments and programs to support student success and uphold the school’s commitment to global education.

Teachers are knowledgeable in both U.S. High School and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricular frameworks and remain current in best practices in instruction, assessment, and curriculum design. The ability to teach across multiple levels—including standard, Advanced Placement (AP), and IB courses
—is preferred.

Professional Qualifications & Qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree in teaching or relevant field; master’s degree preferred
  • Secondary/high school teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Experience implementing effective instructional strategies and current educational practices.
  • Ability to teach across multiple levels including standard, AP, and/or IB courses.
  • Experience working with English Language Learners (ELL) is a strong asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized with strong classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrated intercultural awareness and ability to work within an international school community.
Key Responsibilities Instructional
  • Teach a course load of 4 out of 6 classes/sections within the school’s schedule.
  • Hold office hours at assigned times to provide academic support for students.
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student work and assessments.
  • Attend curriculum planning meetings, faculty meetings, department meetings, and school assemblies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the school.
  • Serve on committees and contribute to school initiatives as needed.
Planning
  • Plan and teach classes following the IB and/or U.S. High School curricula for grades 9–12.
  • Design and incorporate student-centered and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Differentiate instruction and assessments to support diverse learners.
  • Develop instructional materials and classroom resources that support English Language Learners.
  • Create course outlines, reading lists, and key vocabulary resources using school learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments to create opportunities for students to connect their learning experiences and skills.
  • Use a range of technologies and creative strategies when designing units and lessons.
  • Stay current with curricular developments and updates to course syllabi.
Assessment
  • Design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessments aligned with course objectives.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and grading policies.
  • Use assessment results to inform future planning and instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to students and families.
Boarding & Community Engagement
  • Contribute to the vibrant life of a boarding and day school community.
  • Participate in campus activities, events, and student programming throughout the year.
  • Support students beyond the classroom through advising, club supervision, or coaching opportunities.
  • Attend school events including student performances, athletics, and graduation.
  • Promote positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues through consistent communication and collaboration.
  • Communicate with families and work in partnership with families to support students' progress, well‑being and development.
  • Participate in student welcome activities and other key moments in the school calendar.
Compensation

Faculty Pay Range is $70,304 to $86,400.

There is the possibility for this role to be a residential faculty role, with on-campus accommodation, and undertaking residential duties.
