Academic Advisor II
Art Center College of Design is searching for an experienced Academic Advisor II to join our team. The salary range for this position: $30.00 - 33.00, per hour; we are a 7-hour workday/35 hour week.
Final salary is based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Advising, this position will help supplement major advising by serving as a resource for undergraduate students, providing developmental advising and guidance on college requirements, policies & procedures, opportunities for community involvement, and campus resources (case load assignment will be based on need). The incumbent will work with new and continuing students, including specialized student populations, as assigned.
This position will need to travel between campuses, work in-person a minimum of three days a week, and work online as assigned.
This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (7-hour workday/35 hour workweek). The position is eligible for flexible scheduling and can be performed hybrid, with the expectation of at least 3 days in the office or required as a condition of employment. The demands of this work may include weekends or evenings as well as travel.

Student Advising — 80%
- Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Academic Advising, this position serves as the primary point of contact for undergraduate students with general academic advising questions; refers students to appropriate departmental advisors and various offices as needed
- Provide academic counseling (in-person and online) to specialized populations of students, including but not limited to students who are academically at-risk, students identified through the college's CARE network, students identified through the admission's process, and other student populations as needed
- Supplement departmental/major advising by helping students navigate their academic requirements, the course selection process, college-wide policies and procedures, and the degree audit report; refer students to major advisors and various offices as appropriate; provide unofficial graduation audits as needed
- Advise students about co-curricular learning opportunities, such as general internship information, study aboard opportunities, student success workshops/events, and other events/activities as appropriate; refer to associated offices as needed
- Establish and accurately maintain student advisement files (including electronic files in Trac Cloud and other databases as directed); prepare activity reports and analysis to associate director as requested
- Have a thorough knowledge of college/school policies, procedures, and requirements
- Adhere to the institution's interpretation of FERPA rules for the release of student information to faculty, parents, students, etc.
Department Operations — 15%
- Help create and maintain advising materials such as training manuals, brochures, posters, handouts, and academic advising related web content
- With the Associate Director of Academic Advising and other Academic Advising staff, help coordinate college advising trainings and workshops for staff, faculty, and Department Chairs regarding advising best practices, policies, and emerging trends…
