Initial compensation ranges from $23.57 - $26.52 per hour, depending on experience, location, and internal equity considerations.

This position serves as a teacher and caregiver in a classroom of Early Head Start infants and toddlers by planning, implementing, and supervising all center‑based activities. This position may work with infants and toddlers with developmental delays.

• Develop an individual plan for each child to include goal setting based on identified needs and prescriptions for objectives and activities to meet established goals.
• Work as a team member with other education staff, parents, and Parent Committee members to develop curriculum that meets individual and program needs.
• Prepare weekly daily lesson plans, including objectives posted for parents, volunteers, and visitors in the classroom.
• Schedule home visits and parent‑teacher conferences with families as required and document these events.
• Prepare and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for children.
• Plan and provide developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that advance all areas of children’s development (social, emotional, cognitive, and physical).
• Assist in development and implementation of a curriculum focusing on routines and individual child interests and development.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and well‑managed environment so that children will have comfortable learning and growing experiences.
• Set up the physical environment to meet the changing needs of infants and toddlers.
• Serve on IFSP meetings.
• Participate in ongoing training and development specific to working with infants and toddlers and their families.
• Conduct developmental screening of infants and toddlers’ motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional levels.
• Ensure an appropriate written Transition Plan for all children, six months before their third birthday; provide parents with training and information.
• Involve parents in program educational activities to emphasize their role as the principal influence on the child's education and to assist parents in increasing their knowledge, understanding, skills, and experience in basic child development.
• Identify and arrange for parents to participate as volunteers in the classroom, work as substitutes, and perform other volunteer activities.
• Provide daily supervision of all classroom staff, monitor employee performance and classroom activities.
• Report to work on time and maintain reliable attendance.
• Model Pacific Clinics’ approach, mission, and core values in all communication and correspondence.
• Communicate effectively in a culturally competent and diverse consumer population and promote favorable interaction with managers, co‑workers, and others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must have an A.A./A.S. Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a related field; B.A./B.S. preferred.
• Possess or be qualified for a California Child Development Teacher permit or higher.
• Must obtain and maintain DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse Index clearance.
• Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must have 3‑6 units of infant/toddler development coursework.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a Windows environment (Word, Excel).
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.
• Ability to be perceptive of children’s needs and to work well with staff, children, and parents/families.
• Ability to organize and direct classroom activities and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to maintain accurate records that reflect the needs and progress of children.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and a positive attitude in early childhood education.
• Attend and participate in required meetings and training, including at least 15 hours of classroom‑focused professional development.

• Occasional need to provide gentle physical restraint to children.
• May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Some exposure to communicable diseases.
• Noise level in work environment may be moderate to loud.
• Local business travel, occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Work may include evenings and weekends for events.
