Overview
Structural Engineering Leader responsible for supervision and technical direction of a team of engineers, ensuring delivery of civil/structural deliverables on time, within budget, and meeting quality expectations.
Responsibilities- Review and approve all civil/structural deliverables.
- Validate professional services and construction estimates at project onset and track changes throughout the project.
- Accomplish engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement specifications, calculations, and estimates.
- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to identify the simplest, most efficient approach.
- Establish design criteria incorporating client requirements, estimation basis, and applicable codes.
- Ensure permitting requirements are identified and communicated to the project team.
- Plan and organize team work, delegate tasks according to technical skill.
- Consult with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure coordination and progress.
- Produce detailed design calculations, sketches, construction specifications, and monitor drawings for conformance.
- Assist drafting group in resolving layout and detailing problems and provide sufficient sketches and details.
- Produce bid packages for civil/structural procurement.
- Maintain project discipline by tracking budget, schedule, and quality metrics.
- Participate in training programs and professional development of staff.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, with structural coursework required.
- Professional Engineering registration highly preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering and management.
- Knowledge of design standards, codes, and civil/structural materials.
- Ability to develop material procurement specifications and accurate engineering calculations.
- Proficiency in developing construction cost estimates, detailed schedules, and man‑hour budgets.
- Knowledge of schedule constraints and production information requirements.
- Ability to lead project teams to deliver on commitments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CAD drafting standards, and document control.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and virtual team communication skills.
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
