Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking an estimator with at least 5 years of commercial construction experience. Estimators will work primarily on negotiated commercial projects within our core markets and work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors.

• Handle the project from first estimate through to finalization of subcontracts.
• Examine provided information, ask incisive questions, and craft a thorough project cost evaluation.
• Advocate for our customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.
• Propose innovative solutions to complex issues related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and specified products or materials.
• Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all scopes of work.
• Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation.
• Develop variance summaries between estimates and value‑engineering studies as the design evolves.
• Assemble a complete, presentation‑ready estimate package that clearly communicates project cost.
• Collaborate with the project team to establish staffing and project requirements.
• Apply knowledge of unit costs and factors that affect construction cost.
• Draft detailed instructions to bidders, trade‑specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
• Manage the bidding process: solicit bids, communicate with bidders, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and use bid‑tally sheets.
• Recommend subcontractor awards to the owner and negotiate final subcontracts with trade partners.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of cost/budget information to the owner.
• Contribute to request‑for‑proposal responses (RFPs) and formal project presentations.
• Engage and develop business with new and existing customers.

• Effective participation in a team environment with both internal and external teammates.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (Win Est, Timberline, or similar), take‑off software (On‑Screen Takeoff or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
• Five or more years of experience as a commercial construction estimator, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
• Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required.
• Strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.
