What You’ll Be Doing
The Piping Designer is responsible for performing all aspects of complete designs of mechanical/piping assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods.
Location:
Pasadena, TX.
The role will be performed under general supervision and includes:
- Drafting redlined P&IDs and ensuring alignment with lead sheets.
- Updating equipment, valves, and instrument symbols.
- Consolidating multiple P&IDs to a single P&.
- Field verifying any unknowns or gaps in the current P&.
- Developing P&IDs by field sketching existing pipelines where no documentation is available.
- Updating P&IDs in native CAD format and PDF format.
- Delivering final “Issued for As-Built” packages to the site.
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting.
Experience4+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge and application of piping materials.
- Design of less complex process and utility piping systems.
- Knowledge and application of piping supports and restraints.
- Flexibility analysis of piping system.
- Manual valve sizing, use, and application.
- Drafting of P&IDs and GAs.
- Design of piping arrangements such as pump suctions and discharges, tanks, control valve stations, etc.
- Familiarity with specifications and installation details for construction bulk materials and equipment.
- Ability to create accurate mechanical/piping installation documents from vendor equipment drawings.
- Understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines.
- Understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for production of all mechanical/piping deliverables.
- Knowledge of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
- Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and Microstation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good presentation and virtual team skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
