Piping Designer

What You’ll Be Doing

The Piping Designer is responsible for performing all aspects of complete designs of mechanical/piping assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods.

Location:

Pasadena, TX.

The role will be performed under general supervision and includes:

• Drafting redlined P&IDs and ensuring alignment with lead sheets.
• Updating equipment, valves, and instrument symbols.
• Consolidating multiple P&IDs to a single P&.
• Field verifying any unknowns or gaps in the current P&.
• Developing P&IDs by field sketching existing pipelines where no documentation is available.
• Updating P&IDs in native CAD format and PDF format.
• Delivering final “Issued for As-Built” packages to the site.

Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting.

4+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design.

• Knowledge and application of piping materials.
• Design of less complex process and utility piping systems.
• Knowledge and application of piping supports and restraints.
• Flexibility analysis of piping system.
• Manual valve sizing, use, and application.
• Drafting of P&IDs and GAs.
• Design of piping arrangements such as pump suctions and discharges, tanks, control valve stations, etc.
• Familiarity with specifications and installation details for construction bulk materials and equipment.
• Ability to create accurate mechanical/piping installation documents from vendor equipment drawings.
• Understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines.
• Understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for production of all mechanical/piping deliverables.
• Knowledge of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
• Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good presentation and virtual team skills.

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
