Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in any of our California offices. This role offers a unique opportunity to join our growing team and help shape the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, buildings, and related systems.
The person in this role will join a growing technical services practice that brings practical electrical engineering design solutions to facilities and industrial clients across the United States.
You'll work with multi-discipline teams to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions for clients in the water, wastewater, and industrial sectors. This is a chance to take on technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to projects that make a real difference in communities nationwide.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll contribute across electrical design, technical analysis, interdisciplinary coordination, and construction-phase support.
- Design electrical systems:
Perform power system design and studies, including load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, and arc-flash hazard analysis. Design lighting, fire alarm, and other electrical systems. - Perform engineering analyses:
Perform calculations for voltage drop, electrical load studies, system power flow, generator sizing, fault studies, and protective device coordination. - Prepare design deliverables:
Contribute to conceptual reports, construction plans, and CSI specifications. - Use design platforms:
Work in Revit, CAD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting), SKM, and BIM-based design environments to produce detailed design documentation. - Coordinate technical interfaces:
Coordinate Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and associated logic diagrams with electrical schematics for process equipment. - Support construction administration:
Review contractor submittals and provide engineered solutions to Requests for Information. - Guide technical growth:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Technical expertise in MCCs, switchboards, panel boards, load calculations, diesel generators, medium- and low-voltage power systems, transformers, MV/LV switch gear, and SKM software. Advanced knowledge of stand-by generators and associated switch gear. - Clear communication:
Skill in explaining technical information, coordinating input, and documenting decisions with clarity. - Collaborative mindset:
Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and reviewers to move work forward. - Organized execution:
