Position Summary

The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all stewarding operations within the convention center, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and efficient support of culinary and catering operations. This role supervises stewarding staff across multiple event spaces, kitchens, and service areas while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.

Pay & Benefits

Pay:
Hourly rate of $24.00–$26.00.
Benefits for Part‑Time roles: 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching.
This position will remain open until May 22, 2026.

About The Venue

The Pasadena Convention Center is a campus‑style meetings and events complex in Pasadena, California offering 130,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train stewarding staff to support events, concessions, and catering operations.
  • Lead pre‑shift briefings and assign daily tasks based on event schedules and operational needs.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, and assist with disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for large‑scale events, move‑ins, and move‑outs.
  • Ensure all kitchens, dishrooms, service corridors, storage areas, and event spaces meet cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Enforce compliance with local health department regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies. Conduct regular safety walks and sanitation inspections; address and document corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of waste, recyclables, and grease.
  • Coordinate dishwashing operations to ensure timely availability of clean china, glassware, flatware, and kitchen equipment.
  • Support culinary and FOH teams during peak service times and high‑volume events.
  • Assist with event setups, breakdowns, and equipment movement as required.
  • Maintain organization of storage areas, loading docks, and stewarding closets.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and smallwares; submit purchase requests as needed.
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and labeling of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs or maintenance with engineering.
  • Complete daily logs, incident reports, and sanitation checklists.
  • Assist with payroll review, timekeeping, and scheduling.
  • Support audits and inspections from health departments and internal safety teams.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of stewarding or kitchen operations experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in a convention center, hotel, stadium, or high‑volume food service environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards, food safety practices, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in hot, wet, and fast‑paced environments.
  • Must speak, be able to read and understand English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors/managers and employees.
  • Understand written and oral directions and communicate effectively with others.
  • Must be able to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Adhere to Oak View Group standards and policies.
  • Food Handler's Certification required.
  • OSHA safety training (preferred).
