Regulatory Compliance Specialist, HR Generalist / Talent Management, HR Manager
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support leaders and employees in a mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate will have strong employee relations experience, a background working in unionized environments, and proven workplace investigation skills. Nonprofit experience is highly preferred. This role serves as a trusted advisor to management, ensuring compliance with employment laws, labor agreements, and organizational policies while promoting a positive workplace culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Employee & Labor Relations- Partner with managers on employee relations matters, performance management, coaching, and corrective action.
- Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Collaborate with union representatives to address workplace concerns and resolve disputes.
- Support grievance processes, investigations, and labor-management meetings.
- Conduct thorough, objective investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and policy violations.
- Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and recommendations.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
- Provide guidance on onboarding, employee engagement, retention, and offboarding.
- Support workforce planning, organizational development, and change management initiatives.
- Advise leaders on HR best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with California employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation and records.
- Assist with policy development, implementation, and compliance audits.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive HR experience with a focus on employee relations.
- Experience supporting a unionized workforce and interpreting labor agreements.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations.
- Strong knowledge of California employment law.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Human Resources experience in a nonprofit organization.
- Workplace Investigation Certification (AWI, SHRM, or equivalent).
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Compensation: $28-$32 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Candidates with union, nonprofit, and workplace investigation experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
