Position: Payroll/Human Resources Manager (Temporary)

Payroll/Human Resources Manager (Temporary) - Golden Rose Care Center

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Payroll/Human Resources Manager to join our team at Golden Rose Care Center, a Skilled Nursing Facility located in Pasadena, California. As a temporary full-time exempt Human Resources Generalist, you will be responsible for overseeing all payroll and human resources functions for approximately 130 employees.

Job Summary:
As a Payroll/Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the payroll and human resources department, including but not limited to:

Temporary :
August to January (6 Months) Possible Extension

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Interpret day-to-day business objectives and assist in monitoring overtime and meal penalties

  • Provide guidance to and shares knowledge with employees

  • Assist department heads to reduce missed punches

  • Escalate potential service issues to Payroll Director

  • Define standards and reusable approaches within the Payroll operational framework

  • Train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies

  • Process manual off-cycle check payments

  • Enroll and maintain employees on the time-clock's biometrics

Human Resources Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain records of benefits plans participation such as health insurance and retirement plans, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting

  • Responsible for recruitment, employee background clearances, and orientation

  • Assist with benefit management (health, life, dental, etc.) including: developing programs to educate employees on new, existing and any changes to various benefits; explaining benefit options to new hires; enrolling employees in plans and implementing changes during open enrollment

  • Manage, monitor, and administer leaves of absence such as PDL, FMLA, CFRA, workers' comp, and personal leaves, and coordinating benefit payments accordingly

  • Maintain employment files and records including, but not limited to Personnel, Medical/Worker-Comp, and I-9s

  • Assist in terminations (voluntary/involuntary) including Exit Interviews

  • Conducts investigatory suspensions and assists supervisors with carrying out disciplinary actions for infractions

  • Follows up on all employee grievances to provide an investigation and recommendations for resolving the grievance

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Respond to unemployment claims and gather documentation in coordination with field management

  • Assist with preparation and attendance at unemployment hearings

  • Administer workers compensation claims: initial filing and reviewal of restrictions to determine reasonable accommodations

  • Complete and ensure Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) record keeping and annual filing requirements are in compliance

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of Human Resources experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of fast-paced customer experience

  • Experience with ADP payroll systems

  • Experience in a shared service environment

  • Ability and interest in training other team members

  • Working knowledge of email, Internet Explorer, Google Drive, Excel, and Word
