East West Bank is seeking a highly motivated Data Governance Specialist to support the development and operationalization of the bank’s enterprise data governance program. This role will help establish governance standards, improve data quality and transparency, and enable trusted, compliant, and well-managed data across the organization. The position will partner closely with business stakeholders, data owners, technology teams, analytics teams, and risk/compliance functions to implement governance processes, data controls, metadata management practices, and data stewardship frameworks supporting the bank’s enterprise data strategy.
This role is ideal for a hands-on governance practitioner with experience in regulated environments who can balance policy, process, and operational execution while driving enterprise-wide data maturity initiatives.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Support the implementation and ongoing maturation of the bank’s enterprise data governance framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and operating models.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs), data ownership and stewardship assignments, business glossaries and data definitions, and data lineage and data flows.
- Coordinate and facilitate data governance working sessions with business units and technology teams to drive alignment on data standards, issue remediation, and governance priorities.
- Support the development and maintenance of enterprise data catalogs, metadata repositories, and lineage documentation using governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.
- Assist with the implementation of data quality management processes, including data quality rules and controls, issue identification and remediation workflows, root cause analysis, and data quality scorecards and KPI reporting.
- Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and architecture teams to ensure governance controls are embedded within enterprise data pipelines and analytical platforms.
- Support governance processes related to data classification, sensitive data handling, access governance, data retention and lifecycle management, and regulatory and audit requirements.
- Develop and maintain governance artifacts, including business glossaries, data dictionaries, stewardship matrices, governance process documentation, and operating procedures and standards.
- Assist with enterprise data governance reporting and governance council materials, including metrics related to data quality, stewardship adoption, and remediation progress.
- Participate in regulatory, audit, and risk management activities involving enterprise data controls and governance processes.
- Partner with business stakeholders to improve data literacy and promote adoption of governance best practices across the organization.
- Support governance enablement initiatives within modern Azure-based data environments, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI ecosystems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related discipline.
