Director of Administration
We are seeking a strategic Administration Director who is a skilled 'people person' with a team mentality to lead and manage several internal departments, and provide data-driven program administration, financial oversight, compliance with GAAP and ERISA, and coordination with collective bargaining units and unionized work forces.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational management for retirement, pension, and benefits programs across multiple states.
- Oversee department operations and financial administration.
- Oversee financial department activities including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audit preparation in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, federal and state regulations, and plan documents; coordinate legal and regulatory reviews as needed.
- Listen to and mentor department leaders, establish performance objectives, and build cross-functional team capabilities.
- Prepare and present data-driven program performance, financial status, and risk reports to senior leadership and governing boards.
- Lead complex projects including plan design changes, trust administration updates, and multi-state rollouts.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or greater in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience managing benefits for nonprofit organization, pension, or retirement programs with significant administration and accounting responsibilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in a leadership role overseeing Accounting and GAAP, including financial statement preparation and audit support.
- Proven experience working with unionized work forces and serving as a liaison during collective bargaining and contract implementation.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, pension plan administration, trust management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in multi-state program management, including navigating differing state laws and reporting requirements.
- Solid finance and operations skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance measurement.
