California Resource Services for Independent Living (CRS) creates and implements programs tailored to the needs of the disability community, empowering individuals to live healthy, independent, and productive lives. Most of the services are provided free of charge to people with disabilities, funded by federal, state, county, and city governments, along with grants from private foundations, corporations, and individuals. Responsibilities- Conduct intake and develop Independent Living Plans (ILPs)
- Coordinate housing, benefits, and support services
- Provide advocacy, peer support, and skills training
- Collaborate with staff and community partners
- Maintain records and assist with reports and outreach
This is a full-time on-site role for an Advocate Training Coordinator - Senior Advocate based in Pasadena, and Downey, CA. The role involves planning, developing, and delivering advocate training programs, as well as supporting the advocacy efforts of Seniors or individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include coordinating training sessions, developing educational materials, providing individual and group support. The role may also involve collaboration with other departments, community partners, and stakeholders to further the mission of empowering the Senior community.
Qualifications- Experience in program coordination, training development, and facilitation
- Strong advocacy, public speaking, and communication skills
- Proficiency in organizing and managing administrative tasks and documentation processes
- Knowledge of disability rights, accessibility laws, and available community resources
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and foster inclusivity
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms, such as Microsoft Office and virtual communication tools
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services, or a related field is preferred
- Experience working within nonprofit organizations or with individuals with disabilities is a plus
