Job Responsibilities
- Locate patients, obtain accurate vital signs by visual and auditory measures, and triage patients.
- Assess patients’ medical condition and prepare them for physicals and treatment by physicians and nurses.
- Use the electronic medical record system to document patient information.
- Order lab tests, X-rays, and medical supplies as directed by physicians or nurses.
- Notify the nurse and/or physician when the patient is ready for exam, communicating symptoms and relaying questions regarding lab or X-ray needs.
- Assist nurses and physicians with various forms of patient treatment and care.
- Handle physician and nurse requests efficiently and respectfully.
- Perform lab duties as assigned, including phlebotomy procedures.
- Sterilize instruments and set up clinical equipment for patient use.
- Receive, store, and restock medical supplies and supplies for treatment rooms.
- Report to the charge nurse before leaving at the end of the shift.
- Follow ancillary guidelines as directed by charge nurse, nurse supervisor, DMS, and physicians.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures, including OSHA guidelines for biological clean‑up.
- Maintain cleanliness of the treatment area, including laundry washing, drying, folding, and restocking.
- Attend staff meetings scheduled by the nurse supervisor or DMS.
- Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained.
- Complete assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks within the shift.
- Provide assistance as needed; be available to interrupt breaks and mealtimes to provide patient care or maintain center operations.
- Foster teamwork and ensure a positive professional atmosphere.
- Provide positive, warm, friendly service in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum age 18 years or older.
- High school graduate or equivalent; minimum typing experience.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (4–7 hours).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
- Prioritize and multitask effectively.
- Willingness to work at any center in case of staffing or emergency requirements.
- Preferred: 1–2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or hospital setting.
$19.50 – $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
