The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is clinically responsible for all patients in a department. He/she/they delegate(s) tasks to ancillary back-office staff based on scope of practice, and coordinates care with the provider(s).

- Triages patients while obtaining vital signs, a thorough history, and a nursing assessment
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation and understanding, and reduce apprehension
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
- Delegates within scope-of-practice to other clinical staff; manages patient flow within the center by effectively communicating with all disciplines
- Prepares equipment and aids provider during treatment and examination of patient
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions; notifies provider of patient condition as well as any changes to it, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
- Responds to life saving situations according to nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols; must be comfortable running “codes”
- Provides direct patient care interventions according to scope of practice, and as ordered by the provider
- Initiates a thorough patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the provider and/or policy, including patient and family instruction
- Provides direct patient care interventions according to scope of practice, and as ordered by the provider
- Maintains, checks, and utilizes a variety of laboratory and testing equipment
- Follows up with all patients to ensure good outcomes; assists with the implementation of further treatment, as necessary
- Adheres to standard and disease‑specific precautions, practices proper handwashing and utilization of personal protective equipment
- Maintains a clean and orderly environment
- Participates in quality improvement activities
- Participates in the monitoring of inventory control and supplies
- Is mindful of procedure and equipment costs and is a steward for the company
- Must have a current and unrestricted License Vocational Nurse Diploma
- Must have at least 1 year of prior clinical experience
- Must be IV/Phlebotomy certified
- Must be comfortable with IV administration, phlebotomy, processing labs (blood and urine), injections, ear lavage, and performing EKGs
- Must be BLS, ACLS, and PALS certified
- Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must provide weekend coverage; 3-4 Saturdays or Sundays per month
