DescriptionThe NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly‑talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or a NASA‑affiliated research institute. These one‑to‑three‑year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
GPS radio occultation (RO) observations have a number of unique characteristics that make them highly complementary to infrared and microwave passive sounders, including high vertical resolution, all‑weather remote sensing, and coverage of the diurnal cycle. With over ten years of continuous data record, GPS RO can now be used effectively to study the seasonal climatology as well as diurnal, intraseasonal, and interannual variabilities and trends of various atmospheric properties.
We seek a postdoctoral scholar to perform rigorous climate data analysis using GPS RO and other complementary data. Research topics can include, but are not limited to, tropopause trend and variability, climatology of planetary boundary layer depth, and diurnal variability of water vapor.
