Overview
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities- Participate in the development, implementation, and validation of wavefront sensing and data-processing techniques for state-of-the-art space-based coronagraphs and high-contrast imaging instruments.
- Evaluate the impact of these techniques on observatory and instrument design, observing strategies, and observatory efficiency.
- Assist with the preparation, data processing, and analysis of high-contrast imaging observations (JWST and Roman Coronagraph).
- Engage in complementary research activities as qualifications and interests permit, such as high-contrast imaging observations with other facilities or collaborative projects.
- Access observing time on the Palomar 5-meter telescope through JPL postdoctoral fellowship status, and utilize high-performance computing resources to support research.
