About the Program
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geological mapping, modeling, and analysis of tectonic and/or geophysical processes relevant to Europa and other outer planet satellites.
- Analyze regional and global stress fields for fracture formation.
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools to constrain the mechanisms and stresses of structure formation and derive stress mechanisms affecting icy satellites through preserved geological histories.
- Develop proposals on related icy satellite processes such as convection, internal evolution, and mass wasting.

- U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR)
- Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J‑1 visa status

Qualifications
Required:
Ph.D. in planetary science, geology, physics, or a related field; strong written and oral communication skills.
Desired:
Prior experience in planetary science research; quantitative programming skills; experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.
