About the NASA Postdoctoral Program

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly‑talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA‑affiliated research institute. These one‑to‑three‑year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Responsibilities
  • Explore the Cosmic Dawn and Reionization epochs as a frontier of astrophysics and cosmology.
  • Develop and apply Intensity Mapping techniques to map the universe in three dimensions using spectral lines such as the redshifted 21 cm, CO, [C II], Lya and other optical lines.
  • Conduct independent research relevant to current and future NASA missions such as SPHEREx and CDIM, combining theoretical insights with new and well‑targeted observational probes.
  • Produce and analyze simulations and observational data using appropriate statistical methods.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Strong background in astrophysics and cosmology, particularly in intensity mapping or related observational techniques.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and simulation relevant to large‑scale structure studies.
Eligibility
  • U.S. Citizens.
  • U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR).
  • Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J‑1 visa status.
