As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations, staff management, inventory control, and ensuring a positive experience for customers and donors while supporting the mission of The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Responsibilities
  • The primary responsibility of the Store Manager is to be accountable for meeting the sales and income budget expectations while managing expense controls to maximize profitability.
  • Plan and direct the day‑to‑day operations of the assigned store location, including opening and closing procedures, point‑of‑sale operations, inventory management and rotation, ARC merchandising standards, and donations.
  • Hire, train, and direct the store team to ensure proficiency of processes while overseeing the development and performance coaching of all store employees; issue evaluations, key performance results and corrective actions as needed in coordination with HR and District Sales Management.
  • Schedule employees to ensure appropriate coverage in store and donation center; coordinate daily morning and shift‑change meetings; review and maintain accurate employee payroll records and monitor time‑and‑attendance adjustments.
  • Ensure high levels of customer and donor satisfaction through excellent service, maintaining good community relations, and developing strategies to improve the customer experience.
  • Manage Back‑Room Processing by ensuring processors/warehouse associates work effectively and efficiently to meet daily processing goals.
  • Ensure that all store deliveries and inventory are placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Supervise, support, and report on program beneficiaries when Work Therapy Assignments are in place.
  • Protect and secure store currency, inventory, and property—including safe funds, bank deposits, products for sale, equipment, and building security.
  • Secure the building during non‑operating hours using the alarm system and alert protocol.
  • Establish and maintain safety measures in line with ARC policy and government regulations; report safety issues and incidents immediately; conduct and record mandatory weekly store meetings and attend ARC monthly safety meetings.
  • May be transferred or relocated to other stores as business needs arise.
  • Complete all tasks (written or verbal) assigned by the District Sales Manager, Command Retail Directors, and Command Administration.
  • Qualifications
    • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred).
    • Minimum of 3 years of supervisor/management experience in a retail environment (thrift experience preferred).
    • Basic understanding of office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance; must successfully pass an MVR check.
    • Must pass background check, which will include a criminal history and sex offender registry check.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers, and donors.
    Physical Demands
    • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
    • Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
    • Ability to move product up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
    Schedule

    Store operations run 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by management and require flexibility to ensure adequate coverage. Full‑time associates may be scheduled for any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
