About the Role

The Asset Protection Agent plays a critical role in protecting company assets, reducing shrink, promoting a safe environment, and supporting operational excellence. This role combines asset protection, safety, audits, and customer service to ensure OLIVE YOUNG stores remain secure while delivering an elevated guest experience. The ideal candidate is observant, professional, and confident in building partnerships with store leadership while proactively identifying and mitigating risk through visual deterrence and conflict de-escalation.

This position strictly adheres to California regulations and company policies, utilizing surveillance systems, investigative techniques, and incident response procedures to deter theft, fraud, and safety concerns.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor store activity through CCTV, surveillance technology, and floor observation to identify potential theft, fraud, and policy violations.
  • Conduct investigations related to internal and external theft, organized retail crime (ORC), inventory discrepancies, and operational losses.
  • Execute visual deterrence strategies and support shrink reduction initiatives through proactive awareness and partnership with store teams.
  • Document incidents, investigations, and recoveries accurately in accordance with company hands-off and non-pursuit policies, as well as local and state legal requirements.
  • Preserve evidence and maintain strict confidentiality for internal and external investigations.
  • Promote a safe shopping and working environment for customers and employees in compliance with Cal/OSHA standards.
  • Respond to incidents involving safety concerns, emergencies, disruptive behavior, or workplace violence using professional de-escalation techniques.
  • Partner with store leadership to identify security vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular safety, operational, and inventory control audits to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with Store Managers, Operations Managers, and Corporate Leadership to support business objectives.
  • Educate store teams on theft awareness, shortage reduction, safety practices, and operational controls.
  • Build strong partnerships with mall security, local law enforcement, and external partners when appropriate.
  • Strictly adhere to California labor laws, including timely meal and rest break compliance.
  • Balance asset protection responsibilities with OLIVE YOUNG’s customer-first culture.
  • Provide a welcoming, inclusive, and service-focused store environment while subtly protecting company assets.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in retail operations, asset protection, security, or related fields.
  • Active California BSIS Proprietary Private Security Officer (PSO) registration or Guard Card (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • Commitment to strict adherence to company non-physical (hands-off) intervention and de-escalation policies.
  • Strong observation, investigative, and analytical skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
