Job Summary
The Store Manager at Joybird plays an integral role in laying the foundation for our retail business. Store Managers work very closely with our Regional Manager of Retail to ensure our ongoing success. This role focuses primarily on building a team of exceptional associates, executing processes and procedures that help us consistently provide amazing customer service, and ensuring that the store exceeds defined financial performance targets.
Key Responsibilities- Coach and mentor others, being a self‑starter able to identify problems and quickly implement solutions.
- Drive sales in the retail location.
- Pays close attention to financial performance, reporting out to the Lead team and key stakeholders.
- Become an expert on the full Joybird catalog and provide style advice and product recommendations to suit a customer’s unique needs.
- Oversee the Leadership and Design Consultant team to create programs and initiatives to make our customers’ experiences even better.
- Share insight with product, marketing and technology teams regarding customer needs and feedback.
- Manage scheduling and payroll to effectively meet the needs of the business and company expectations.
- Maintain operational excellence implementing key policies, procedures, training and initiatives with your team.
- Recruit, develop and retain top talent with exceptional customer service.
- Use KPIs and reporting to create business solutions and exceed sales targets.
- Open and close the store, execute system opening and closing procedures, and handle cash where appropriate.
- Lead, uphold and embrace Joybird’s mission and core values.
This role is responsible for overall financial performance of the retail showroom – targets currently range from $5 - $8M annually.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor degree in Business Administration or related study preferred; or equivalent experience.
- 3‑5 years of retail management experience.
- Available and adaptable and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and experience in building effective and productive working relationships.
- Strong business acumen.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Goal oriented – energetically focuses efforts on meeting goals, mission or objective.
- Proven history of managing a team, improving team’s performance and productivity.
- Proven analytical ability utilizing information technologies in managing the business to translate into strategic plans.
- Proven track record of customer service excellence.
- Thorough understanding of profit and loss, strongly preferred.
Responsible for directly leading the leadership and sales team of the store – up to a team of 10.
Physical Demands / Work EnvironmentYou are energized by leading from the front and are able to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time. You are able to lift and mobilize medium to large items up to 50lbs. You are able to use appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
CompensationBase Compensation Range: $72,000 - $95,000
Commission & Bonus:
Earn more with UNCAPPED commission on written sales – 2% on all other sales. Monthly bonus opportunity of $500 based on your ability to meet specific individual sales goals.
