We are seeking a Managing Scientist to support technical projects and business development within our Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice.
Responsibilities- Strategic business development and client networking to grow science and engineering services in water resources, agriculture, and nutrient management.
- Analyze and interpret water resources and land‑use activities focusing on environmental issues, including agricultural and nutrient management.
- Apply knowledge of federal and state regulations, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and production processes.
- Direct and support analyses, prepare regulatory documents, and produce expert reports.
- Synthesize technical information and apply creative and critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentations.
- Maintain professional status by authoring peer‑reviewed publications and participating in technical conferences and professional societies.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice and other interdisciplinary groups as appropriate.
- Ph.D. in Water Resources, Ecology, Agricultural Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience, with at least three (3) years of direct consulting experience.
- Expert‑level knowledge of land‑use activities, including agricultural science, soil science, crop and livestock management, irrigation practices, pest management, and nutrient management.
- Working knowledge of farming practices and sampling methodologies for terrestrial, wildlife, soil, and water quality issues.
- Proven experience with data analysis and statistics.
- Proven experience managing tasks of moderate scope and complexity.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines, and communicate within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to personal development and staff development.
- Not required, but the following experiences are a plus:
- Understanding of federal, state, and local laws relevant to agriculture, water quality, and related environmental sciences.
- Experience addressing domestic animal management, including cattle, swine, fowl, and aquaculture.
- Experience addressing proactive and litigation‑related matters.
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship required.
