Job Summary

Serves as a school‑based liaison/mentor for identified students to optimize academic achievement. Opportunities and Access Liaisons assist students by connecting them to resources that support balancing school and personal life, guiding them through academic challenges and helping achieve a balance between home and community. The liaison is the point of contact for school administration, teachers, parents, pupil personnel workers, and professional school counselors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and mentor a group of 20‑25 students through one‑on‑one and small group sessions.
  • Act as liaison to ensure opportunities and access for the group.
  • Maintain and submit timely reports in a communication log detailing student participation and outcomes; keep accurate and confidential records.
  • Keep an Outlook calendar of formal and informal check‑ins; create a consistent schedule to include established student goals.
  • Act as liaison among students, families, and staff for participation in school events/programs.
  • Participate in school events to support the identified group.
  • Monitor progress of students and keep detailed records.
  • Establish effective and cooperative relationships with professional and support staff.
  • Attend meetings with school‑based staff, administrators, and parents as necessary.
  • Attend central office Opportunity and Access Liaison staff meetings as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
  • Some college courses in human development, child psychology, counseling, special education, or related field preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience
  • Group facilitation and/or supervision experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Strong clerical and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement.
  • Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Capability to work effectively with diverse parents/guardians of varied communication styles and experience levels.
  • Proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., video/web conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Language Requirements
  • Bilingual native or near‑native preferred.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions

Stand, walk, sit, keyboard, talk, and hear as required by duties. Work environment is an indoor office, school, or similar setting with moderate noise.
