PT Clerical Assistant II - Library; Public Services

Responsibilities

• Operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill the mission, vision and values of the Library and the City of Pasadena by performing the general tasks associated with circulation duties, basic reference assistance, shelving, shelf-reading and shifting library materials.
• Provides assistance at all customer service desks throughout the library, answering questions in person, online and by telephone.
• Processes library card applications and issues new or replacement library cards to customers. Inputs and updates customer account information.
• Shelves books and processes hold requests for library customers. Bills customers for lost, damaged, and missing items. Collects and processes library fees and/or refunds.
• Assists library customers with the use of online catalogs, databases and computers. Assists in promoting all library collections through designing and constructing displays, signage and bookmarks.
• Provides reader s advisory to library customers. May assist with collection development, weeding projects and other collection maintenance projects.
• Researches, manages, and presents library programming and outreach. Assists in maintaining public service areas and library equipment/facilities.

• High School diploma or GED required and a valid Texas Driver s License.
• Preferred:
  An associate degree or some college education.
• Some experience working in a library or similar setting desirable.
• Experience working with children a plus.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish and American Red Cross first aid training a plus.
