Job Summary:

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the field execution and performance of multiple assigned construction projects and work sites. This position provides leadership and direction to Superintendents and field supervision to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within established budgets, and in accordance with contract requirements, client expectations, and company standards.

The Construction Manager serves as the primary field operations leader across assigned projects and is accountable for manpower planning, field leadership, safety, quality, productivity, schedule execution, and cost performance. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, and company leadership to coordinate resources, identify developing issues, establish priorities, and implement corrective actions when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee field execution and performance across multiple assigned construction projects and work sites
  • Provide leadership, direction, and accountability to Superintendents and other field supervision
  • Maintain appropriate operational visibility across assigned projects and ensure field activities meet company and client expectations
  • Monitor safety, quality, manpower, productivity, schedule, cost performance, and overall field execution and initiate corrective action when needed
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, supervision, equipment, and other field resources across assigned projects, including mobilizations and demobilizations
  • Ensure projects are adequately staffed with qualified field leadership and craft personnel based on project requirements
  • Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to align field execution with project schedules, budgets, contractual requirements, and client expectations
  • Identify resource constraints, field conditions, delays, disruptions, scope changes, and other issues that may affect project performance and ensure they are appropriately communicated and addressed
  • Develop and oversee corrective or recovery plans for projects that are not meeting safety, quality, productivity, schedule, or cost expectations
  • Ensure Superintendents maintain appropriate field documentation and accurately capture manpower, production, equipment usage, delays, changing conditions, and other significant project information
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier field performance and address issues affecting project execution
  • Coordinate with Safety, Quality, Procurement, Fleet/Garage, HR, Payroll, and other company support functions as necessary to meet project requirements
  • Support project planning, mobilization, execution, turnover, closeout, and demobilization activities
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients and work with Project Managers and company leadership to address significant field execution or client concerns
  • Ensure construction activities comply with company safety policies, client requirements, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations
  • Evaluate, coach, and develop Superintendents and other field leaders and address performance deficiencies when necessary
  • Promote consistent construction practices, operating expectations, communication, and accountability across assigned projects
  • Escalate significant safety, quality, staffing, productivity, schedule, cost, contractual, or client risks to appropriate leadership
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible construction experience, including significant experience supervising field construction operations
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction leadership role such as Superintendent, General Superintendent, Construction Manager, or equivalent
  • Industrial construction experience is strongly preferred, including experience in one or more areas such as mechanical, civil, structural, coatings, scaffolding, piping, industrial maintenance, or related construction services
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple construction projects or work sites and effectively prioritize competing operational requirements
