Instructor, Medical Laboratory Technology - Central Campus

Responsibilities:

Teaching:

* Keeps up with developments in the field of study.

* Demonstrates high standards-academic and professional.

* Evaluates student work constructively and provides timely feedback.

* Teaches at times and locations that meet student needs.

* Provides access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.

* Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.

* Develops and uses a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guideline.

Professional Development:

* Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.

* Use effective teaching methods and materials that reflect thoughtful planning, assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with different backgrounds and learning styles, and engage students in learning.

* Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises program curricula and teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self-reflection.

* Meets or exceeds professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry, and higher education, as appropriate to the discipline(s).

Service:

* Participate actively in college meetings, committees, task forces, and councils.

* Participate in college-related activities such as registration, community education, student recruitment and retention, and faculty selection.

* Participate in college activities for students/student organizations.

* Participate in business and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission and values of the college.

* Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards.

* Participate in setting departmental goals, developing college budgets to support those goals, and planning for achieving those goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* The successful candidate must have a knowledge of how to work with students, including those in developmental and academic courses at a community college.

* Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues in both the College Preparatory and Academic departments, all campus service areas, and employees across the district.

Required

Education:

* Associate Degree in medical laboratory science.

* Must hold a MLT certification by the ASCP.

Preferred Education:

* A bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field;

* An MLS certification with the ASCP

Required Experience:

* Must have at least three (3) years work experience in Medical Laboratory.

Preferred Experience:

* Instructional experience preferred in teaching medical laboratory technology or healthcare-related subjects at the college level, utilizing various instructional methods (in-person, hybrid, and online).

Note:

Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.

Salary Grade: BACH
