Power Supervisor

Albemarle Corporation is seeking an Electrical Power Supervisor to support our industrial manufacturing facility in Pasadena, Texas. This position reports to the site's E&I Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for providing indirect supervision of the contract labor force and ownership of the site's electrical power systems. The candidate will lead the site’s contract power electrician workforce, ensure routine duties, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical power distribution equipment are performed efficiently, and support design, documentation, testing, commissioning, turnover, and installation of new systems.

• Provides interface and oversight to assigned contract employees to perform maintenance or service functions within timing, quality, efficiency, and cost guidelines.
• Focus on skilled crafts such as electrical distribution and power electricians.
• Involved in daily routine execution of planned maintenance activities, breakdown repairs, and troubleshooting.
• Leads subordinates in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Supervises general maintenance activities to avoid or minimize disruptions to plant production.
• Determines maintenance priorities, assigns daily work, coordinates with Operations and other maintenance crafts, and schedules contract personnel.
• Interprets functional specifications and repair reports; prepares and issues safe work permits for plant electrical power distribution areas.
• Monitors quality of maintenance work performed by power electricians.
• Ensures adherence to safety procedures and protects employees.
• Plans short‑term activities to maintain work continuity, including shift schedules, job priorities, material availability, and preventive inspections.
• Coordinates with other plant functions to support operations.
• Selects, organizes, trains, and motivates labor force for quality work.
• Recommends improvements in equipment, methods, and procedures.
• Establishes job priorities for breakdown repairs and return to service.
• Recommends spare parts, both on‑shelf and outsourced.
• Coordinates off‑site repairs and verifications.
• Reviews and provides feedback on new project documents related to electrical power distribution installations.
• Collects power consumption data, logs data, compiles reports, and distributes information plant‑wide.
• Uses SAP to execute notifications, maintenance plans, and work orders for daily activities.
• Schedules weekly work with assigned planner/scheduler for the power team.
• Supports the power engineer with technical knowledge and application of power distribution.

• Familiar with industrial plant electrical power distribution systems.
• Knowledgeable in substation transformers, medium/low voltage switch gear, power feeders, rectifiers, load‑break switches, SEL relaying, and KWH meters.
• Knowledge of NEC 70 and NFPA 70E.
• Ability to train and instruct contract power electricians.
• Designated owner of assigned systems, delegating support from power electricians.
• Supports engineering staff with verification of field installations, testing procedures, preventive maintenance techniques, and equipment application.
• Champions safe work practices and leads by example.
• Partners with local vendors to reduce turnaround time for emergency repairs.
• Provides status updates on normal and abnormal tasks to management.
• Primary resource for electrical power support of investigations, corrective actions, and audit items.
• Proficient in low voltage (≤1000 V) and medium voltage (1000 V–15 kV) electrical applications/installations.
• Recommends improvement ideas for plant site power components.
• Eager to advance the power department’s reputation by instilling proper traits and good habits.

• Minimum 5 years of direct supervision of power electricians; 10 years preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; some college desirable; documented formal training preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with skill‑sets required to maintain assigned duties.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non‑routine basis.
