Organisational Context and Job Purpose

INEOS Phenol operates five sites:
Antwerp (Belgium), Gladbeck (Germany), Marl (Germany), Mobile, AL and Pasadena, TX. This role is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all low‑priority regular and special maintenance, including capital projects, within assigned areas of responsibility. The objective is to improve plant maintenance and construction efficiency by pre‑determining manpower, material, time, tools, and equipment requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain safety as the highest priority and abide by all INEOS safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote and communicate the INEOS “20 Principles of Safety,” “Coaching for Safety,” and “Stop Work” concepts.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulatory requirements and meet internal SHE objectives.
  • Complete own and subordinate training requirements as scheduled.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to satisfy facility maintenance, ISO 9000, and process safety management requirements.
  • Maintain the department within budget for the area of responsibility.
  • Directly supervise maintenance crews in the absence of the designated Maintenance Supervisor and Lead.
  • Review plant maintenance notifications and formulate manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Determine job sequence and priority through coordination with production, maintenance supervisors, and planners/schedulers.
  • Schedule all material (including common tools and erection equipment) and manpower for low‑priority work orders to achieve cost‑effective and timely maintenance work.
  • Provide accurate labor and material estimates using established time standards and job knowledge for Maintenance, Production, and Engineering.
  • Prepare detailed plans for completing plant, unit, or equipment shutdowns.
  • Coordinate contract maintenance to meet established time frames and agreements.
  • Update and review CMMS data daily to ensure accurate work order management and backlog information.
  • Participate in the plant quality process and provide manpower, man‑hour, and cost estimates for all planned work.
  • Support technological advancements and efficiency improvement methods.
  • Improve communications and relationships between key positions in the assigned area.
  • Modify procedures as needed to comply with facility, ISO 9000, and Process Safety Management requirements.
  • Develop and implement cost‑reduction ideas to continuously improve cost efficiencies for the department and plant.
  • Participate in the training and development plans of the department.
Skills & Knowledge Required
  • Education or experience: 2 years formal training in instrumentation, electrical, or mechanical; 5–7 years installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
  • 2 years of direct planning and scheduling experience with proficiency in safety, equipment repair, work‑process planning, piping and instrumentation layout, and personnel management.
  • Technical skills: use of PC, calculator, multi‑line telephone, copier, printer, scanner, fax.
  • Software:
    Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Skype, Visio, Adobe PDF, SharePoint, SAP, Microsoft Project.
  • Site systems:
    Emerson Distributed Control System, PI Data Historian, COA Database, Training Mine, Alfresco Document Management, Esker General.
  • Physical tools: small hand tools, step ladder, extension ladder.
Physical Requirements
  • Medium effort:
    Exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, or up to 20 lbs frequently, or up to 10 lbs constantly.
  • Environmental conditions:

    work inside and outside, extreme cold (below 32°F > 1hr) and extreme heat (above 100°F > 1hr).
  • Noise: sufficient to require shouting to be heard above ambient noise.
  • Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body.
  • Hazards: physical conditions near moving mechanical parts, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, chemicals, fumes, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, oils, cutting fluids.
