Overview
The IE Technician troubleshoots, maintains operating units and performs preventive maintenance to drive process and product improvements. The role ensures safe and efficient operation of assigned production units, complies with all relevant safety and environmental regulations, and supports achieving production targets.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities- Accountability 1: SHE
- Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
- All activities performed in accordance with company, local, state, federal and health‑safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are planned and executed in accordance with site environmental requirements.
- Identify safety improvements on all pre‑existing processes.
- Provide safe work permits to contractors working on or around equipment in the plant and maintenance buildings.
- Verify clear understanding of work scope, review the type of work and potential hazards.
- Initiate proper safety reviews (temporary job plan, confined space, hot work, etc.) when necessary.
- Respond to emergency protocols during shutdowns and startups.
- Accountability 2:
Manufacturing Excellence- Monitor overall program compliance for asset integrity programs and coordinate craftsmen to ensure completion prior to due dates.
- Support maintenance of asset condition per INEOS Asset Care guidelines.
- Coordinate with Asset Work Execution Supervisors on larger, complex jobs, review work scope with Operations, Execution Forces, Planner/Schedulers, and develop timelines as needed.
- Troubleshoot failed or under‑performing equipment to identify and eliminate root cause.
- Serve as an elevated technical resource in maintenance repair techniques.
- Ensure PM compliance by craft, schedule compliance, and backlog management for the asset.
- Support engineering project teams that install, modify, or otherwise affect IE & A equipment in the plant.
- Confirm that IE & A is installed correctly with all parameters set for the desired operation.
- Education & Experience
:
High School Diploma/GED required; at least 5years of maintenance‑related experience in a plant, Electrical and Instrumentation designation, and NCCER Electrical and Instrumentation Certification. - Technical Skills
: SAP experience in Plant Maintenance, Microsoft Office Suite, strong knowledge of process and personal safety & health practices (energy isolation, lockout‑tagout, work permitting, confined space entry, working from heights, hazard communication, lifting, hoisting, incident reporting, MOC). Knowledge of instrument, electrical, and analyzer standards (API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISA). Working knowledge of P&, instrumentation installation, calibration, maintenance, HART communication, PLC (Allen‑Bradley), ladder logic, control valves, Emerson Delta V, BPCS/SIS or related DCS platforms.
Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and instrumentation related to temperature, pressure, mass flow and level (DP, Coriolis, vortex, ultrasonic, nuclear, radar). - Electrical Experience
:
Troubleshooting equipment with voltages up to 12.47kV. Ability to read P&, relay drawings, electrical one‑lines and loop drawings. Knowledge of VFDs, transformers, high‑power motors, UPS systems, low‑ and medium‑voltage switch gear, and motor control centers. - Behavioral / Soft Skills
