The Environmental Scientist will support environmental due diligence and subsurface investigation projects, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for commercial, industrial, and real estate clients. This role requires strong technical writing and field investigation experience, familiarity with soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations, and the ability to exercise professional judgment with strong written, verbal, and computer skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) reports in accordance with ASTM E1527 standards, including site reconnaissance, historical records review, regulatory database review, interviews, environmental evaluations, and report preparation.
- Prepare Phase II ESA work plans and reports, including oversight of drilling activities, soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling, analytical data interpretation, and technical report preparation.
- Coordinate and oversee drilling subcontractors, monitoring well installations, and other subsurface investigation activities.
- Collect soil, groundwater, and vapor samples in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance and company procedures.
- Prepare technical reports, boring logs, figures, tables, maps, and conceptual site models.
- Ensure technical deliverables are completed in accordance with company quality standards, project requirements, and applicable regulatory guidance.
- Support environmental due diligence, site characterization, remediation, and risk assessment projects.
- Assist with project scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and client communications.
- Support additional project and operational needs, as required, to assist the team in meeting client expectations and project objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Geology, Chemistry, or related field (master's preferred).
- 3-5 years of relevant environmental consulting or regulatory experience.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, CAA).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management systems; GIS experience a plus.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork in varying conditions.
$68,000-$72,000 / Annually
