HVAC Truck Controls Service Engineer

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Rate
  : $36 – $50, determined by education, experience, and market data.

• Design, configure, and service HVAC building control systems and other low‑voltage subsystems (lighting, nurse call, data networks, etc.).
• Develop complex software programs, commissioning plans, and troubleshooting solutions to ensure proper system operation.
• Create flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, schedules, and electrical schematics.
• Coordinate and produce drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services, and/or installations.
• Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned jobs.
• Assist with loading, commissioning, and validation of system functionality.
• Resolve issues with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
• Provide field change data for as‑built drawings and software revisions.
• Keep management, contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues.
• Deliver site‑specific training for owners/operators on the building control system.
• Participate in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations.
• Perform value engineering to deliver cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Provide work direction to junior controls technicians.
• Adhere to safety standards and prioritize employee and subcontractor safety.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in construction or HVAC services.
• Strong knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and building subsystems.
• Experience integrating low‑voltage subsystems using industry protocols such as LON and BACnet.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Advanced computer skills, especially drafting tools.
• Experience writing submittals and communicating with customers and consultants.
