Sr. CAD Administrator

CAD Systems Administration
- Administer, configure, and maintain CAD platforms (e.g., Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, Octave Forte 3D, Forte 3DWorx) across engineering and construction teams.
- Administer, support, and maintain database servers for Smart 3D and/or Plant 3D.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain ISOGEN for piping isometric generation.
- Lead CAD software upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment.
Standards & Governance
- Develop, implement, and enforce CAD standards, templates, libraries, and workflows.
- Build and maintain piping specifications and support libraries within 3D modeling software.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in project kickoffs to establish CAD execution plans.
Support & Training
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for CAD users.
- Train and mentor designers and drafters on best practices, standards, and system use.
Data, Security & Performance
- Manage drawing databases, project file structures, backups, and data security protocols.
- Coordinate with IT on hardware, licensing, graphics, and network optimization for CAD performance.
Automation & Integration
- Develop automation tools, scripts, and customizations to improve productivity (e.g., routines, reports, batch tools).
- Support software integrations for multi-discipline industrial projects (mechanical, piping, structural, civil, instrumentation, electrical, procurement, construction).
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to design systems and workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, Computer-Aided Design, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of CAD experience in industrial construction, petrochemical, refining, or heavy industrial environments.
- 5+ years of CAD administration experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D; strong experience with Octave Forte 3D, Forte 3DWorx, and other 3D modeling platforms strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of industrial construction deliverables, including P&IDs, piping isometrics, structural, and civil drawings.
- Demonstrated experience developing CAD standards and automation routines.
- Proficiency with SQL, report writing, and programming/scripting (e.g., VBA, .NET, Python, C#) is a plus.
- Knowledge of file management systems and document control processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline team environment.
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Sit for extended periods.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects.
Primarily office environment with standard office and design application use.
