Mechanical Engineer
Department: Engineering •
Location: Pasadena, TX •
Work Schedule: Standard (Monday – Friday) •
Work Status: Exempt •
Union: STOT
- Establish design criteria for mechanical data sheets, prepare mechanical specifications, evaluate bids, and manage contracts for all tagged mechanical equipment on the project.
- Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or material selection with supportive material.
- Collect, assimilate, and manage data for mechanical engineering work.
- Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
- Demonstrate superior engineering skills and be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines and construction.
- Work with client to resolve mechanical problems.
- Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering as needed.
- 7+ years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial design.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited engineering school.
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
- Previous relevant EPC company experience.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering and design and familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with procurement, project controls, construction project managers, and clients.
- Proven track record of accomplishment as a design engineer on industrial projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish respect and credibility through actions, communications, understanding, and personal presence.
- Ability to work with others to achieve job goals.
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Sit for long periods of time.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects.
Remote and onsite work. Visits to job sites may be required on occasion as needed.
