Ethylene oxide (EO) is an important building block for a wide variety of derivatives. INEOS Oxide is one of the world's leading producers of EO and EO derivatives, with a total capacity of 920 kta across five units in Europe and the US.

The Safety Engineer serves as plant‑wide subject‑matter expert on all safety related issues, including implementation and enforcement of all applicable OSHA standards, managing the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program, and advising site management regarding regulatory compliance and industry best practices for workers and process safety. The role also facilitates guidance for contractors, supports the site employee safety team, assists with emergency preparedness and responses, and coordinates with site security and the contract workforce on preparedness tactics.

The Safety Engineer also maintains industrial hygiene programs, organizes site and employee monitoring, and ensures the integrity of SHE assets and protective systems.

• Promote and develop site‑wide safety programs to achieve a safe work environment, strong safety performance and regulatory compliance by leading shop‑floor engagement.
• Advise on safety, health, security, emergency response, As‑Care, and improvement opportunities.
• Support line organization and plant functional teams through direct involvement in routine and non‑routine activities, creating a safer work environment.
• Review, develop and implement site safety procedures and programs, including IGGN’s.
• Annually review existing content, develop new materials and present training through computer‑based methods or as an instructor.
• Evaluate and implement new software, technologies and practices to reduce the risk of injuries/illnesses and analyze safety performance trends to recommend continuous improvements.
• Develop and implement contractor safety management programs, including routine safety approvals, contractor onboarding and site credentials.
• Develop and implement site‑specific training for contractors and visitors, to be displayed at the HASC and onsite.
• Coordinate audits to support 20 Principles, VPP recertification, As‑Care, insurance, PSM and Life Critical Audits.
• Maintain the integrity of SHE plant assets and protective systems.
• Support PSM and environmental efforts including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change processes, risk assessments, design safety reviews, and incident investigations.
• Lead by example for all safety programs, including “Stop Work Authority.”
• Participate in or facilitate incident investigations.
• Routinely collect, report, and address SHE KPI’s.
