Partner with the best The Senior Product Development Engineer leads the technical component of the New Product Development (NPD) and New Technology Development (NTD) projects from conceptualization and design to validation, certification, and industrialization. The engineer defines the critical‑to‑quality requirements early in the project, works cross‑functionally with other team members, and collaborates on solutions to meet the needs. Design reviews with business Technical Title Holders and ASME controlled title holders validate technical documents.
The engineer also creates and maintains the repository of technical documents associated with each project (3D models, 2D drawings, engineering guidelines, assembly instructions, interchangeability charts, certified prints, etc.).
- Clarify project input and ensure everyone is well aligned with the need and product to be developed
- Organize the technical activities on the project and validate the schedules in accordance with the specifications
- Write the Product Technical Specification (PTS) that translates the customer's need into technical requirements
- Perform product design and models
- Produce associated calculation notes, CFD and FEA to validate the design
- Manage subcontracting of engineering activities if necessary
- Write all the technical documents necessary for the implementation of the new product in the selection and calculation software
- Write all technical documents associated with the product
- Coordinate technical meetings with other departments of the company (sourcing, manufacturing, advanced manufacturing engineering)
- Implement design review sessions over the life of the project
- Participate actively in the identification of risks and mitigation of the same
- For new design, complete the Functional Analysis and associated FMEA
- Incorporate DF(X) into designing
- Define design rules and improve the process
- Carry out the technical training of new products for all the services in the company
- Work in conjunction with the testing laboratory to set up prototype tests
- Analyze and interpret with laboratory teams the results of prototype tests
- Prepare and support invention disclosures to protect company technology advantage and company intellectual property rights
- Be a recognized expert for safety and pressure relief valves with a proven track record of success in valve design and be part of industrial committees as necessary
- Be a mentor and provide guidance to new and experienced engineering people and disseminate lessons learned across the engineering organization
- Have a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Have core design engineering experience with a minimum of 10 years
- Have strong knowledge of mechanical design concepts
- Have advanced knowledge in fluid dynamics
- Have working knowledge in FEA/CFD, ideally in Solid Works/ANSYS
- Have strong material knowledge in valve and material applications, selections (typically used in O&G, Refinery & Power sectors), ASTM material grades & testing
- Be from the pressure safety valve industry and have strong knowledge of PSV related codes (ASME, API, EN, etc.)
- Prior experience in new product design would be an added advantage
- Prior experience working in multidisciplinary teams across regions and time zones
