Under close supervision, the entry‑level Reliability Engineer will receive proper training that will ultimately place the candidate in‑plant at a customer facility(s). The Engineer directly coordinates, schedules, and participates in work with the customer to comply with the partnership agreement.
Troubleshoots by investigating problems related to product performance and application specific criteria. Makes less complex and routine seal and equipment recommendations utilizing standard engineering judgment and responsibility to resolve customer inquiries. Travel as required to perform duties and work directly with customers.
Responsibilities- Assist operations with tear‑down, inspection, and assembly of mechanical seals as part of a training rotation to become familiar with mechanical seals.
- Perform failure analysis on mechanical seals and input findings into John Crane’s reliability management software.
- Review customer applications and provide recommendations.
- Troubleshoot applications and analyze seal operation problems and failures.
- Communicate orally and in writing with company personnel, providing feedback, recommendations, and technical assistance, including technical presentations to management.
- Resolve problems on existing installations regarding material changes or modifications of equipment, seals, or auxiliary equipment.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Experience with mechanical seals, rotating equipment, and basic engineering principles is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of personal computers, MS Office, and machining practices.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously in a demanding environment and completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Effective written and verbal business communication skills.
- Effective training, leadership, facilitation, influencing, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within diverse teams locally and across functions.
