JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Finance (ADOF)

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

The Assistant Director of Finance effectively manages the day‑to‑day operation of the Finance Department. Primary responsibilities include financial analysis and reporting, influencing department managers to ensure appropriate controls are in place to manage business risks, assisting the Director of Finance and Executive Team during budget preparation and forecasting, overseeing internal and external audit and control, balance‑sheet reconciliation and cash control, and team development.

  • Supports the implementation of the property’s financial initiatives to support the overall annual business plan. Generates and review.
  • Coordinate and review daily, monthly and annual financial statements for accuracy.
  • Supports the development of the annual operating budget for the property and provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost savings and productivity opportunities.
  • Review and approve all ledger account reconciliations to include bank statements, assets & liabilities, cash and credit cards and other related GL accounts. Monitor coding of cash receipts.
  • Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability, and manage business risks.
  • Ensure compliance with standard and local operating procedures.
  • Review and approve operational tax returns to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Oversee internal, external and regulatory audit processes and ensure compliance with Langham (LHG) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Leverage technology and effectively use information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide managers with analytical support to drive decision‑making.
  • Reconcile the balance sheet in a timely manner and ensure account balances are supported by appropriate supporting documentation in accordance with LHG SOPs (monthly/quarterly).
  • Ensure federal and local tax rates are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued. Administer the payment of real estate/personal property taxes on time.
  • Ensure hotel permits, licenses and, if applicable, vendor contracts are current.
  • Review income audit issues and make corrections as necessary.
  • Assign team members and other department managers clear accountability to accomplish goals.
  • Participate in colleagues’ performance appraisal process, providing feedback as needed.
  • Participate in colleagues’ progressive discipline procedures. Ensure hotel policies are administered fairly and consistently. Disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to standard and local operating procedures and support the Colleagues Review Process.
