Part-Time Emergency Management Specialist

Job Title

Major Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist the manager, emergency management with the preparedness, preventative, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts including the development of emergency plans, policies, procedures, and guidance.

2. Assist in drills and exercises to test all equipment on a regular schedule under the supervision of the manager, emergency management.

3. Assist the manager, emergency management with the planning, training, and exercising of the CERT, Building Marshal and Building Supervisor programs.

4. Represent the OEM in community emergency management activities such as community fairs, events and related trainings, and exercises.

Job Functions:

5. Represent the College in any trainings, meetings or public outreach efforts.

6. Perform inventory, maintenance and management all emergency management equipment, including the communications equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

2. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

3. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, ability, culture, ethnic background, and to maintain good working relationships across the College.

4. Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed for events and incidents.

5. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.

Familiarity with the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) as well as Hazard Vulnerability Assessment tools.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trained.

Knowledge of the Incident Command System, including completion of IS-100.B, ICS-200.B, ICS-700.A, ICS-800, IS-5.A.

Education and Experience:

Preferred Education:

1. Currently enrolled in an associate degree program or higher in emergency management or a closely related field.

2. Bachelor's degree in emergency management or homeland security.

Required Experience:

1. Previous experience in an office / administrative setting.

2. Experience with emergency mass notification software.

Preferred Experience:

1. Previous experience in emergency management, or related field

Licenses/Certifications:

1. Texas DL with Class B (Emergency Vehicle) Endorsement.

2. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT or higher)

3. CPR First Aid Instructor

4. FEMA Master Exercise Practitioner certification,

5. Certified Emergency Manager (CEM or similar).

6. FEMA Advanced Professional Series certification

7. FEMA Professional Development Series certification

Pay Rate: $16/hr
