Rapid Response Team Registered Nurse - RRT - RN

Work Schedule:

3 shifts per week, 7p-7a/Rotating Weekends

We are seeking a highly autonomous, rapid-response Rapid Response Team Registered Nurse to join our elite clinical intervention team at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast in Pasadena. Operating as a critical care expert across our 340+ bed facility, you will serve as the frontline clinical consultant, deploying instantly to stabilize deteriorating patients, lead Code Blue interventions, and support floor staff during acute medical crises.

We welcome experienced RRT RNs, ICU Nurses, or ER Registered Nurses who possess exceptional assessment skills, a strong grasp of advanced hemodynamics, and the ability to think critically under high-stress conditions. Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Responds to all RRTs (Rapid Response calls), Code Blue, and Code Neuro.
  • Communicates daily with each charge nurse to identify high risk patients
  • Round on departments to include Women and Children Services, PACU, and ED holding every two hours to address MEWS scores and address questions and/or concerns of staff.
  • Assesses all "at risk" patients as identified by MEWS score increases
  • Monitors surgery schedule and rounds on any "at risk" post op patients
  • Facilitates debriefings of post codes
  • Facil StaRN learning and serve as resource
  • Enters RRT data and creates monthly reports using excel, reports data to appropriate committees
  • Completes 24 hours post RRT/Code Blue follow up and documentation.
  • Leads and facilitates RRT/Code Blue Committee
  • Refers patient complaints to appropriate Unit Managers/Directors.
  • Utilizes chain of command to ensure appropriate action is taken
  • Facilitates a staff satisfaction feedback system for RRT

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing is required. BSN is preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date).
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification are required.
  • NIHSS Stroke Scale Certification required.
  • PALS preferred; required after six months completion in position.
  • CCRN, CNRN, and/or CEN preferred, required after six months completion in position.
  • 2-years of clinical ER or ICU experience as a licensed RN required
