Part-Time Faculty - Cybersecurity Bachelor of Applied Technology (South)
San Jacinto College is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and hands-on part-time instructor to join our Bachelor of Applied Technology in Information Technology program, with a specialized focus in cybersecurity. This program is designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity through a curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in information security as a practitioner, a passion for teaching and fostering student success, adept at keeping up with developments in the field, and committed to continuous professional development.
This role is a part-time adjunct faculty position. Adjunct faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence on campus.

Provide feedback to students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. - Teaching:
Teach courses at times and locations that meet student needs. - Teaching:
Hold regular conference hours. - Teaching:
Recommend learning materials that support course objectives. - Teaching:
Develop syllabi and materials, including laboratory activities, aligned with state, college, and departmental standards. - Teaching:
Participate in the design of course content and materials that cover emerging trends in information technology and cybersecurity. - Professional Development:
Engage in activities that maintain competence in the discipline and teaching methodologies through professional development opportunities. - Professional Development:
Reflect on and evaluate teaching practices and program curricula. - Professional Development:
Meet or exceed professional, industry, higher education, and state-mandated standards and requirements relevant to the discipline. - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Industry experience in cybersecurity and information technology. - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles. - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in contemporary teaching methods and technologies.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a closely related discipline.
- 3 years of full-time work experience in cybersecurity, information technology, or related roles.
- Experience in cybersecurity operations, including but not limited to risk management, incident response, digital forensics, network security, threat analysis, security architecture design, and the implementation and management of cybersecurity tools and technologies.
- Familiarity with compliance standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO/IEC 27001) is also essential.
Education and Experience
- College teaching experience.
- Five years of full-time work experience in cybersecurity, information security, information technology, or related roles.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
Salary Grade: AH
Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
