Purpose of the Job
The Maintenance Superintendent provides continuous oversight of maintenance work execution, communicates deviations to work schedules, ensures improvements are proceduralized, and promptly inputs closure and reliability data for each job. The role ensures all employees and contractors work safely, comply with policies, and proactively manage environmental impact. The position reports to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager and serves as a backup as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and direct team members towards safety objectives, business goals, and continuous improvement in a changing priority environment.
- Deliver daily results supporting Safety, Health, & Environmental compliance, fixed‑cost compliance, and unit profitability.
- Maximize efficient utilization of all resources within the team.
- Provide career development for key personnel at all levels for succession planning.
- Directly address customer priorities to achieve site goals.
- SHE: Commit to INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioral Safety; enforce site safety principles with vendors and contractors; maintain safe, efficient operation using established disciplines.
- Reliability: Support Maintenance Manager in setting weekly maintenance schedules; interface with Operations to set priorities; ensure systems for long‑term reliability; oversee outage activities, budget, reliability requirements, shut‑down/start‑up support; assist engineers in reliability issue resolution.
- Annual Budgetary Compliance: Assist in developing the annual maintenance department budget; manage expenditures with Supervisor to maintain reliability and asset integrity.
- Team Leadership: Guide direct reports and maintenance processes; assess subordinates’ capabilities, define development plans, and evaluate annually; develop performance, training, and career plans for the team.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. - Experience:
7‑10 years in a chemical plant or manufacturing environment; 3‑5 years of leadership/supervisory experience. - Technical
Skills:
SAP, Maintenance Workflow, rotating equipment knowledge (sundyne, centrifugal pumps, PD pumps, reciprocating compressors, turbo machinery); proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel; installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment. - Preferred: 3‑5 years of direct planning and scheduling; industry‑wide and plant‑specific safety, equipment repair, work‑process planning, piping and instrumentation layout, personnel management techniques.

- Light work:
Exert up to 20 pounds occasionally or up to 10 pounds frequently. - Climbing ladders/stairs; operating inside/outside environmental conditions including temperature extremes, noise, and hazards such as moving mechanical parts and exposure to chemicals.
- Must comply with respiratory protection and medical clearance as required.
- ~98% reliability
- Safety & compliance: >70% of dedicated budget utilized; PM compliance ≥90%.
- Zero safety incidents.
- All departmental annual training and progression goals met.
