This position – and all positions – within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position. Employees must also commit to following INEOS’ Life‑Saving rules on a daily basis. Additionally, employees must report all incidents, participate as needed for incident investigations, Management of Change, and Process Hazard Analysis/LOPA.
Responsibilities- Operate within a team of operators to cover the Styrene/Ethyl benzene/Utilities Outside and Board sections and Tank Farm section during routine, abnormal, startup/shutdown and TAR operations.
- Complete safe work permits and risk assessments for each job in respective field areas.
- Troubleshoot and report any equipment abnormalities and problems.
- Secure equipment for maintenance and return to service after maintenance is complete.
- Monitor process to ensure the unit is performing within safe operating conditions (SOC).
- Perform 3–4 rounds per day, including safety checks, check condition of equipment, make line‑ups, start and stop equipment as needed, and complete data entry while performing rounds.
- Actively utilize and adhere to all operation procedures.
- Catch samples and provide them to the Laboratory; review sample results for respective areas.
- Actively participate in unit drills and training.
- Execute on‑shift activities for the safe operation of the plant, including loading truck and rail, as required.
- Complete operator‑assisted maintenance activities, as required.
- Write and/or update operating procedures and SOCs.
- Ensure INEOS Styrolution safe work practices and policies are maintained.
- Maintain a high standard of unit housekeeping.
- Successful completion of all required training modules and testing for technician qualifications, minimum of five qualifications.
- Assist with training technicians.
- Emergency Response Team member, as required.
- Rotation through inside and outside operating systems while fulfilling all requirements of the operations progression system.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED and one of the following:
- Process Technology degree from an accredited program.
- At least three years’ experience as an Operator in a chemical plant, refinery or gas processing plant.
- At least three years of experience as an Operator in a chemical plant, refinery or gas processing plant.
- Ability to troubleshoot process problems.
- Ability to function well in a high‑workload, high‑stress environment.
- Ability to adapt and contribute within a team environment.
- Must have good communication skills and be able to follow written instructions.
- Ability to deliver results and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to analyze written instructions and assist in their development.
- Ability to understand calculations when used.
- Ability to use a computer and programs for routine work related to the job, including ability to differentiate colors to determine the status of equipment on the DCS.
- Ability to learn highly technical changes in the plant.
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and plots of operational data.
- Ability to feel vibrations in pumps, vessels, motors, etc.
- Utilize audio, visual, and olfactory senses to monitor proper operation of plant equipment.
