PartTime Community Outreach Associate – Central/South Houston, Pasadena School Year (August - May)
Part‑time positions available July/August through May – facilitating Girl Scouts’ Outreach programs with middle and high school girls in schools.
The Community Outreach Department of the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is seeking part‑time Community Outreach Associates to conduct interactive programs with middle and high school‑aged girls in several different schools. The program serves multiple schools across Central Houston, Southwest Houston, and Pasadena areas. The program addresses a variety of contemporary issues facing teens and pre‑teen girls such as peer pressure, self‑esteem, health and fitness, harassment, dating violence, conflict resolution, bullying, identifying strengths, healthy relationships, financial literacy, etc.
Qualifications- Dependable, enthusiastic, organized, and energetic
- Reside in central, southeast, or southwest Houston areas preferred
- Have strong public speaking skills. Confident presenting to sometimes large groups of middle school and high school girls
- Able to engage with diverse groups of girls ranging from 11‑18 years
- Must have reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel throughout ALL the areas served as needed
- Weekly pick up and transport of program supplies to and from the Girl Scout Center in Houston as needed
- Some moderate lifting 20‑50 lbs. occasionally required
- Available to work minimum of 2 1/2 days to 4 days weekly possible)
- Available to work between the hours of 7:00 am‑4:30 pm (actual hours will vary by school site)
- Must be 20 years old with a valid driver’s license – some college preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) applicants preferred, but not required
- Experience working and/or volunteering with youth preferred
- All employees must become official members of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
