. The position is Monday‑Friday, with no weekends or holidays and no call. The level of the RN will be Level I, II, or Senior based on candidate experience. Whatdoes the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) do?
Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences in the patient population, including late adolescence through the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications and blood products using correct medication, dosage, route, time, and technique.
- Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration where applicable.
- Facilitate dose adjustments by assessing patient and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plans, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Level I
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
