Job Summary and Responsibilities
  • Accurately documents in the patient 's record a description of the nursing care provided.
  • Administers medication in a safe, knowledgeable and accurate manner following laws, regulations, and hospital policy as it relates to controlled substances.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for assigned patients, including discharge planning and utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Assists the physician with examination tests and procedures.
  • Carries out physician orders in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Completes and demonstrates proficiency with unit based clinical and age‑appropriate nursing competencies.
  • Complies with applicable hospital policy/procedure.
  • Provides general nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Promotes ethics and compliance, attends annual Code of Conduct training, and acts with honesty, integrity, and fairness.
  • Monitors and observes the patient, accurately records changes in condition and reactions to medications and treatment.
  • Notifies appropriate individuals of changes in condition and uses the established chain of command.
  • Participates in hospital performance improvement activities to improve safety and patient outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Plans and coordinates patient/family teaching and assesses understanding of information provided.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork, demonstrating professional behavior that supports quality patient care.
  • Provides care and treatment that reflects appropriate infection control techniques and universal precautions.
  • Respects the patient’s privacy and maintains confidentiality of health care and other information.
  • Respects the rights of patients to include their cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values.
  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations related to nursing practice as set forth in the Nurse Practice Act, Texas Occupations Code, and other statutes.
  • Supports and exhibits professional behavior consistent with quality services and provides leadership to the health care team.
  • Supports the vision, mission, and values of the hospital.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse with an active license in the state of Texas or a multistate license with Texas.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an acute hospital cardiac rehab setting.
