NICU Registered Nurse

Work Schedule:

3 days per week, 7a-7p/Rotating Weekends

We are seeking a compassionate, highly precise NICU Registered Nurse to join our advanced neonatal team at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast in Pasadena. Operating within our state-of-the-art, designated Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will deliver critical, life-saving care to premature infants and newborns with complex medical needs. Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients in the NICU and Newborn Nursery.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the NICU that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Responsible for meeting the standards of Practice for a Level II and Level III NICU and managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Performs neonatal assessment of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients.
  • Performs nursing care of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients.
  • Performs gestational age assessments.
  • Demonstrates appropriate usage and understanding of equipment used in the department.
  • Participates in mandatory unit education activities.
  • Participates in the discharge process to include parent teaching.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date).
  • Current BLS issued from American Heart Association required.
  • Neonate Resuscitate Program (NRP).
  • 1 year of clinical experience as a licensed RN in an acute hospital Level II NICU required.
