In this pivotal role, you will oversee a highly specialized, 24/7 critical care environment spanning the full spectrum of intensive care specialties, including Medical ICU (MICU), Surgical ICU (SICU), Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), Neuro ICU, Trauma ICU (TICU), Neonatal ICU (NICU), and Burn/Pediatric ICU support frameworks. Dedicated to treating high-acuity patients who require intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions, you will lead a multidisciplinary team providing vital services to support our Level III Trauma Center,
Certified Primary Stroke Center, and Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation.
Our department manages complex adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and rapid interventions for conditions such as severe sepsis, respiratory failure, heart failure, and acute neurological events. As a Nurse Manager RN - ICU Critical Care, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn –whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.
What you will do in this role:
- Upholds Organizational Alignment: Drives NCMC mission, nursing standards, patient satisfaction, and Studer Concepts across assigned units.
- Executes Strategic Goal-Setting: Develops four unit-specific goals aligned with the organization and documents progress for leadership.
- Empowers Staff Autonomy: Encourages frontline staff to develop evidence-based practices and participate actively in department councils.
- Maintains Consistent Communication: Conducts ten monthly staff meetings annually and shares detailed updates via minutes and memos.
- Optimizes Fiscal Resources: Prepares and manages expense, personnel, capital, and supply budgets using advanced information systems.
- Balances Workforce Staffing: Controls overtime, PTO, and Nursing Hours per Patient Day to deliver cost-efficient, quality care.
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
- Current BLS issued from American Heart Association preferred.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with all customers both orally/written in a clear, professional and effective manner.
- 3-5 years of critical care ICU experience highly desired; will consider 2-years.
- 1 year of previous Leadership experience in a hospital/healthcare environment required.
