Environmental Scientist

Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Scientist to join our team. The role involves performing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation using the latest technologies and methodologies.

• Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard environmental science principles and theories
• Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling
• Classify and sample soil during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities
• Supervise drillers and other subcontractors
• Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority
• Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain‑of‑custody forms
• Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistry
• Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting
• Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sections
• Develop materials and assist in completing reports on finished field work
• Provide technical guidance to lower‑level geologists or environmental scientists
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

• Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field and typically 3+ years of related work experience

• Familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferred
• Ability to perform physical exertion such as extended standing, walking on rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, lifting, and bending
• Work in adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow)
• Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
• Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self‑sufficiently in the field or as part of a team

This position requires a Fit for Duty exam. Successful completion of this exam(s) will be required post‑offer acceptance prior to continuing in the hiring process and onboarding.

$55,300.00 – $96,800.00
